Community Paper Clothing Competition - Award and Exhibition opening Nov 8

Previously known as the ‘Paper Dress’ competition, this wonderful community-focused event has now been re-launched and re-invigorated as the Community Paper Clothing Competition.

Open to anyone interested in exploring the unique and diverse medium of paper as a platform for artistic expression. Novices welcome! The project is managed by the Burnie City Council and one of its aims it to be a skills-development program for local artists looking to enter paper on skin in the future.

The competition sets the challenge either as a team or individual to create life size clothing, a face mask or headwear and jewellery, purely from paper product. This can include using newspapers, fast food wrappers, shopping dockets or even toilet paper.

There are three age categories which can be entered:

  • Primary School

  • High School Grade 7/8/9/10

  • Open age category

Completed entries must be received at the Coastal Art Gallery on the 4th-5th November.

All enquires to Dave Fregon at the Burnie City Council – 64 30 5770.
