2017 Nicholas Von Bibra

Nicholas has been performing in musical theatre since the age of eleven. At aged thirteen his family moved to Tasmania from NSW, and Nicholas quickly engaged with the performing arts scene on the North West Coast.  He enrolled in the North-West Academy of Ballet and gained several qualifications (including two Honours) via the Australian Dance institute. His forays into theatre have included roles in Hairspray (PCYC), Oklahoma (Burnie Musical Society) and the Tasmanian premiere of Wicked. He has participated and received awards in multiple eisteddfods.

Nicolas was a student of Helen Jones, and believes the training she provided will enable him to reach his potential as a professional performer. Nicholas makes these comments in relation to the bursary: “I felt very encouraged when receiving the Helen Jones bursary for 2016, Helen Jones herself achieved so much in the performing arts throughout her life time as well as giving back to her community, so to have received an award in her named made me feel very special, being her student and receiving her bursary has encouraged me and allowed me to further my performing arts training in 2017. I have moved to a city with many creative opportunities ahead of me and it has allowed me to be financially comfortable within my training towards future auditions and creative projects.”

Nicholas relocated to Sydney, where he trained at the prestigious Alegria Dance Studio. At the end of 2019 - after a gruelling open casting call - Nicholas secured a contract with Royal Caribbean Cruises. Congratulations, Nicholas! We look forward to seeing you under the lights on the top of the ocean. Image credit headshot: Ryan Morgan Productions.
