2020 Connor French

Connor is a performer whose theatrical career started when he was in Grade 7 at Burnie High School. He has performed in many productions during his six years at High School and then Hellyer College. His passion is evident - just look at the bio picture taken during a performance of Hellyer College’s Godspell. Connor also has experience with local theatre companies such as DoMaur Productions Inc (where he has fulfilled both acting and directing duties) and the Ulverstone Repertory Society. He has appeared in two television commercials.

The Burnie City Eisteddfod is another avenue where Connor has showcased his talent, receiving numerous first placings over the years. In 2019 he won the Muriel Browning Memorial Perpetual trophy for under 18 Shakespearian recital.

On receiving the bursary, Connor says ‘…I feel so appreciative to be given this award. I’m looking forward to the opportunities that this award will open up for me, allowing me to not only improve my skills as a performer but to find ways to give back to the local community that has given me such much.’

Connor will be applying for VCA and NIDA as he looks towards 2020 to pursue his studies.
