2022 Paper on Skin Gala
The 2022 Paper on Skin Gala was held at the paranaple convention centre on the 17th June, 2022.
Slipsteam Circus delighted the audience with their roving pre-show displays and opening act. Dave Mangenner Gough provided a beautiful welcome to country, and Jodhi Gough was a shining light as our MC.
Along with the amazing catwalk presentation of the thirty-four garments, we were also treated to live music by the band Alluvium, presented by Eastside Studios. Aaron Hopper and Paul Corfiatis have created an original soundtrack inspired by the centuries old tradition of paper making and all that it represents. Listen carefully, there are lyrical and subtle sounds of papermaking and paper manipulation throughout the songs.
The film of the gala includes the award ceremony at the end. Judges Greg Leong, Terry Ryan and Sarah Bishop had the unenviable job of selecting five awards, whilst the Mayor Rockliff was responsible for deciding the winner of a new award this year - the Mayor of Devonport ‘Behind the Curtain’ award.
We thank our major partners and sponsors for enabling this event to take place. Also our models who blew everyone away with their grace and poise on the catwalk. The whole show was dependant on an incredibly hard working back-of-house crew - dressers, runners, hair and make-up artists. The technical and event team at the paranaple convention centre went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the evening was all we had dreamed it would be.
Enjoy this edited film of the event.
Paper on Skin is presented in partnership with the Devonport City Council and is assisted by Arts Tasmania.
