Lexie has experience across a range of arts genres including dance, music and singing. She has been performing since primary school, treading the boards in several Burnie Musical Society pantomimes. She has competed in the Burnie Eisteddfod since 2014, winning the Under 18 Recitation Championship in 2017 and 2019. In 2018 Lexie won the award for Outstanding Performance in the Speech and Drama section.
Whilst a student at Marist Regional College she performed in the 2016 production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and had lead roles in High School Musical (2018) and We Will Rock You (2020). In 2018 she also had roles in DoMaur Production Inc’s Picnic at Hanging Rock and Life on Three Stages. Whilst completing her year twelve studies in 2020, Lexie found time to co-direct The Tell-Tale Heart, another DoMaur Life on Three Stages production.
In 2021, aided by the bursary, Lexie commenced a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts. While attending a ‘mainland’ institution, Lexie is keen to share and demonstrate the skills she has developed on the North West Coast and show ‘…what a remarkable theatre community we have.’
Upon receiving the bursary, Lexie had these words to say: ‘I feel incredibly honoured to receive the Helen Denise Jones Memorial Bursary this year. The $1000 will be immensely helpful in assisting with my future pursuits in the arts, and I am very grateful to the Burnie Arts Council for their consideration and support.’
